The hotel Cà Formenta is found at one end of Via Garibaldi and is easily reached from Marco Polo airport and Santa Lucia Railway Station. Because we have our private wharf we suggest, for convenience, to come to the hotel by motorboat taxi, it is slightly more expensive (around € 80.00 from the airport and around € 45.00 from the station), but it is certainly the more scenic and convenient way to arrive. Alternatively ,there is public transport from the airport, the shuttle "Alilaguna" leaves every hour from 8.00 a.m. to midnight. The nearest stop to the hotel is "Arsenale" two bridges to the right and you have arrived. From the Train Station Santa Lucia (and from the Piazzale Roma for those arriving by car) we advise taking the line ACTV n° 51 or n° 61. Get off at the "Giardini" pier, pass the first bridge on the left, continue along "Riva dei Sette Martiri" up to the hotel. Another way is to take the line ACTV n° 1 and follow the Grand Canal, a very beautiful, romantic journey of about 45 minutes to the wharf "Arsenale" just after St. Mark's Square, two bridges to the right and one is at the hotel! Via Garibaldi can claim to be the heart venetian life, unlike the area around St. Mark's Square it has not yet been invaded by mass tourists. The many coffee houses and famous restaurants of the area are crowded mainly with venetians who come here to escape the hustle and bustle of the plaza, after all it is only ten minutes away. Nearby one can see the "Padiglioni" of the International Biennale Exhibition of Modern Art, a must for art lovers. In conclusion, here is a corner of Venice, well known to the Venetians, still to be discovered by many tourists but ensuring your visitors won't leave disappointed.

Saint Mark's Basilica: beautiful Venetian church with 5 domes looks like the ancient church of Costantinopoli. It was embellished during the early centuries of the last millennium and particulary in the thirtheenth century when Venice dominated Mediterranean culture and economy.
The church, built to represent the power of Serenissima, is externally embellished with marble, mosaics and bas-relief: all maded with precious materials came from Bisanzio, Aquileia and Ravenna. Internally, the church has a Greek cross plan with domes substained by big columns.
But the most amazing fact of this church is that the architectural structure is perfectly hidden by the beauty of the mosaics...

Saint Pietro's Basilica: This church was the cathedral of Venice 'till 1807, when Saint Mark's Basilic became the religious centre of the city.
San Pietro was rebuilt on a previous building of the seventh century a.C. and dedicated to San Pietro by the bishop Magno. Original building, as appears nowadays, it's the result of a remake, partially completed, based on a project by Palladio.
Here, seignory used to come the eight of January to commemorate the end of the pestilence in 1630. In memory of all the episodes of plague that threw Venice and the entire Europe into confusion, also San Lorenzo implora l'aiuto divino per la liberazione di Venezia dalla peste del 1447 by Antonio Bellucci painted in the end of 1600.

Saint Giorgio's School: The School took its name by the Dalmatian community which became a corporation in 1451 with the patronage of saints George, Jerom and Tryphon.
It was officially opened in 1451 and testifies the presence of the Dalmatian (Schiavoni) community: Venice always trades with Dalmatia during its history. This School would probably be anonymous now if Jerusalem's patriarch had not gave the S. George's relic to the commander of Venetian fleet in 1502. At the same time, Carpaccio, was charged to realize some paintings dedicated to the saints Agostino, Matteo and Giorgio: masterpieces where Carpaccio reached the perfection of its art.
School was closed as the other by Napoleon's edict.

When you arrive at Piazzale Roma you can take one of these boats: n° 41, 51, 61, and get off at Giardini boat Stop. From there you'll have to walk just 200 mts to get to Hotel Cà Formenta!
Private transportations: Private car-taxi to Venice Lido. Price about L 13 EURO (22.5 USD; 8 GBP).

Airport - Venice by motorboat

Public transportations: ALILAGUNA is the direct passenger waterbus service between Venice and its airport. Ticket 8,78 Euro, you can buy it directly on board without any supplement. Get off at Giardini Stop. From there you'll have to walk just 200 mts to get to Hotel Cà Formenta!
Private water-taxi
Price about 82 Euro (74 USD; 51 GBP). Arriving directly at the berth of the Hotel.
